Relief Act 2020

Updated: Jan 30, 2021

People from all over the country have been crying out, "I need a break! I need some rest!" "I need RELIEF!" and here it is! Here's your rest, but it is nothing like you expected. Desperate times call for desperate measures! Our country has been guilty of not letting the fields REST or the land REST or the people REST. That is why we are being forced into this time of rest. Our nation has been guilty of not responding to God's word and now we are paying the price. I am not a financial expert by any means but I do know God's word. God's hand is moving on behalf of the marginalized, the homeless and the poor in every way!

“Six years you shall sow your land and gather in its produce, but the seventh year you shall let it rest and lie fallow, that the poor of your people may eat; and what they leave, the beasts of the field may eat." Exodus 23:10-11 NIV

We have become our own taskmasters, driving ourselves into the ground with little to no rest, always busy chasing after that American dollar, meanwhile walking past our impoverished neighbor in a hurry so we ourselves don't become impoverished. God wants us to rest. He wants the land to rest. He wants our debts canceled so we can rest, not more loans handed out. The only type of loan God is interested in is that of giving to the poor--when you give to the poor you lend to the Lord and He pays back with interest!

"Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward them for what they have done." Proverbs 19:17 NIV

Yes, we need to repent and we need to pray and we also need to respond. If America were to respond to our poor as she has responded to the virus, our nation would be healed!

Psalm 41: 1-3 Blessed is the one who considers the poor![a] In the day of trouble the Lord delivers him; the Lord protects him and keeps him alive; he is called blessed in the land; you do not give him up to the will of his enemies. The Lord sustains him on his sickbed; in his illness, you restore him to full health.

I watched on the news as the city streets in Denver, Colorado emptied, all except for the homeless. The only concern reported by the media was that the homeless weren't honoring the rules of "social distancing." I was grieved as I witnessed the homeless gather together, the only ones who would dare come near them were members from their own group. There was no discussion about Where can they go, What will they eat, Are they well--no, only "social distancing." We have already made ourselves distant from these people.

The homeless, the poor, the marginalized are key to the healing we need as a nation and a permanent change in America. It's not how we romanticize the poor or give them a place to become celebrities on the city streets--no, God the Father wants to see how we will respond once we exonerate the poor from all or their debts, and how we will receive them. Will we open the doors to the temples and welcome them in, or will we continue bussing them offsite to a different location so our church pews and polished chairs don't have to be professionally cleaned. An extravagant blessing by the hand of the Father awaits us at the tip of his fingers, but we must respond. The homeless poor are key in this hour- they are the antidote and the very same people group with whom Jesus Christ, on a heart level, personally identifies:

"For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ Matthew 25:35-40

Many argue that there will always be the poor, and use that as justification for not helping them, but that is not God's desire. He doesn't want anyone left out or left behind. He cares deeply for all of His creation, and as we are waiting for the adoption of every son and daughter to wrap their minds around this truth, we must treat them as though they are our neighbors--we must treat them as we would want to be treated. This is The Greatest of the Commandments and this also is our greatest shortcoming in America when dealing with the marginalized, the homeless and the poor. We distance ourselves from them.

"However, there need be no poor people among you, for in the land the Lord your God is giving you to possess as your inheritance, he will richly bless you, 5 if only you fully obey the Lord your God and are careful to follow all these commands I am giving you today. 6 For the Lord your God will bless you as he has promised, and you will lend to many nations but will borrow from none. You will rule over many nations but none will rule over you. Deut. 15:4-6

So what can we do as a nation? We can forgive each other. We can forgive our debtors. We can forgive our debts. If all literal debts are forgiven by the lenders, then God's hand will be FREE to move on our behalf and on behalf of the maligned and the poor. They are connected to the land, linked together This will restore the land. This is a Godly principle that we as a nation have never abided by. While we are resting, while we are abiding in the shelter of the Most High, trusting God, He is calling us to adjust our way of thinking. When the Israelites left Egypt, they took nothing with them, they were leaving a land they toiled so hard for--other people's land--the Egyptian's land. The Egyptians are a symbol of a type of taskmaster. God wants us free in every way because He is the bondman redeemer! So what are we supposed to do? What has brought correction upon America, the land of the Free?

We haven't been released or pardoned from our debts, and we haven't released others.

At the end of every seven years you shall grant a release (remission, pardon) from debt. 2 This is the regulation for the release: every [a]creditor shall forgive what he has loaned to his neighbor; he shall not [b]require repayment from his neighbor and his brother, because the Lord’s release has been proclaimed. 3 You may require repayment from a foreigner, but whatever of yours is with your brother [Israelite] your hand shall release. Deut 15: 1-3 AMP

We haven't done this. We have only offered more loans, required partial payments that still leave the people financially burdened or we, (and by "we" I mean the people who govern the financial rules in America) have foreclosed on homes and added to the population of the homeless and poor. According to the Hebraic calendar, this is not the normal time of remission from debt but there is grace to do it! It is almost too late. If our country and its leaders were to orchestrate such a move and orchestrate a cancelation of debts then there may very well "be no poor among us" (Deut 15:4).

[ The Year for Canceling Debts ] At the end of every seven years you must cancel debts. This is how it is to be done: Every creditor shall cancel any loan they have made to a fellow Israelite. They shall not require payment from anyone among their own people, because the Lord’s time for canceling debts has been proclaimed. You may require payment from a foreigner, but you must cancel any debt your fellow Israelite owes you. ...Deuteronomy 15:

We don't need to be giving out more loans, we need to have a RELIEF ACT and give the people what they need. I mean how prophetic is it that the multitude of American's went to stockpile toilet paper. This is a sign! It may seem silly, but in doing so the American People are demonstrating their desperation for relief--they never received relief from their debt, and God is forcing His hand and demonstrating what is needed. By not responding we put ourselves in danger. The cry for the Israelites who were in bondage to another person's land was and is, "Let My People GO!" That same cry is lifting up from ground zero of our American soil--our people are not free as we sing, our people are in ongoing bondage to debt, poverty and homelessness. The Lord's time for canceling debts has been proclaimed and He is calling us to respond in this hour. The people of America don't need more loans or more time- they need RELIEF NOW!

How DO I Know?

I don't want to share this part, it is painful for me to share this. I have agonized over it for two days, but I must.

In 2009-10, pestilence tried to enter America. Our family lost our home that year along with many others and we almost lost our daughter. We were preparing ourselves to become homeless when a friend and a pastor bequeathed to us his home- a rent to own situation beginning where he left off! That same year our youngest daughter contracted the bubonic plague. It made national news. (Click Here if you want to read the story). Our community packed all of our belongings and moved us into our new home while we contended for our daughter's life in the hospital.

Different programs from the state of Colorado helped us with a moving stipend. Our daughter completely healed from the plague and miracle after miracle followed us home. But there were certain churches who wouldn't touch us with a ten-foot pole because of the plague and because we had been asked by God to leave the church.

After returning home I came across a prophetic word I had received the previous year called The Urn in the Wilderness. It was passed around to many prophetic people and warned that the plague was coming and unity in the church was key. I believe the generosity of our community coming together, the generosity from family and strangers, and the generosity of our friend stopped the plague from spreading. No single church reached out to us, but individuals did, combining their faith in God. It was awesome!

Action & Prayer changed the course of what could have been something much worse- you can't have one without the other...but the real power came with forgiveness. I had to forgive certain churches for judging us.

In 2017 I worked as a director counseling at a ministry that helped the homeless and the poor. I had the honor of teaching many of them how to hear the voice of God. For some reason, counseling terrified the owner of this ministry. God's desire and His anointing was and is to move on behalf of the disenfranchised, the maligned, the poor...the captives! The enemy put a stop to it, using key people in the church to get in the way of what God was doing. They literally were placing themselves in front of a move of God by not speaking up, and not defending the poor.

The results from the mishandling of God's anointed ones included divorce, illness, and eventually, the end of a well-established ministry. I had to forgive my debtors and forgive those who had wronged me. I had to forgive them on behalf of the people I had been called to minister to. I had to forgive the church yet again.

Seven years later, we paid off our home on January 1st, 2020, where we are presently gathered together, safe and sound. I was asked to leave a ministry for speaking up for the broken and the bruised. I was asked to stay away by a second church for prophecying over a group of women. Rejection by the church has had a huge impact on my life. I had to forgive the church once again and embrace the One who will never reject me.

These experiences have given me a gift of compassion. I have had many visit me, sit on my sofa, and pour out similar stories.

I must give this call- this warning. I am compelled to do so because the Father compels me. I was once among the homeless poor, the broken, and abused who the Father has raised up to be a voice for those who cannot speak for themselves.

We often overlook the most obvious solution- the one that is annoyingly staring at us in the face. The homeless are literally staring at us in the face, a living example and a symbol of a type of land that has not yet been given rest. The poor need rest and relief from their debts.

But who are the poor really? We are. WE ARE THE POOR BECAUSE WE HAVEN'T FORGIVEN EACH OTHER. We need to ask God to forgive our debts and we need to forgive our debtors so that our debts are canceled and forgiven. The president can change the financial situation, but we must change our hearts.

“Pray, then, in this way:

‘Our Father, who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. ‘Your kingdom come, Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven. ‘Give us this day our daily bread. ‘And forgive us our debts, as we have forgiven our debtors [letting go of both the wrong and the resentment]. ‘And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from [i]evil. [j][For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.]’

For if you forgive others their trespasses [their reckless and willful sins], your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others [nurturing your hurt and anger with the result that it interferes with your relationship with God], then your Father will not forgive your trespasses. Matthew 6:9-15

I am sorry that happened to her...God is going to reach her heart and because of that incident she will reach those hearts with God's love and not man's religions. God bless you Mary

Thank you for being vulnerable and sharing your story. I have felt so compelled to reach the marginalized. My daughter was homeless and on drugs and in jail at one time. She is also gay. One time she was going to church and the spirit of God moved on her and she talked to the pastor. He told her not to come back. I worked in a jail ministry and so loved those precious girls. Your words resonate deeply within me. Thank you.
